AMMONIA FEEDSTOCK CHANGE OVER PROJECT
In view of rising cost of production, National Fertilizers Ltd’s Nangal Unit introduced Ammonia FeedStock Over Project at Nangal and technology is based on KBR SMR with purifier process. The process involves steam methane reforming at high pressure in two stages, primary and secondary reformer, gas purification followed by CO2 removal, methanation, drying and cryogenic purification process. With this innovation, the designed Battery Limit energy consumption per MT Ammonia at Nangal Unit is 7.953 GCal and subsequent global energy/MT urea is 7.095GCal and thus the net saving in global energy per MT Urea is 2.422 GCal. Visualising the energy optimisation the technology adopted at Nangal for production of ammonia is the best in the country.
