Madhya Pradesh Mahila Vitta Evam Vikas Nigam has implemented many innovative schemes for skill development, gender equality, poverty alleviation and community development. The Nigam has launched a community-led initiative – Shaurya Dal - to curb violence against girls and women. This aims to create enabling environment for girls and women and sensitise the community regarding the issues relating to the fairer sex. With a view to provide livelihood and ensure empowerment of poor women, the Nigam has taken an initiative called “The Kodo-Kutaki Way” (Cultivation of Millet). The initiative is aimed at sensitising Baiga women farmers about modern agriculture and improve quality of life. This covers 40 villages, comprising 2,000 Self Help Groups of 3,000 households. It enables poor women to make use of choices, spaces and opportunities for their overall well-being.
