Banglore Traffic Police

India’s “garden city” Bangalore could have turned into a jungle had it not decongested roads, reduced accidents and traffic violations and even the pollution level. The B-TRAC system put in place by the IT-savvy city’s traffic police authority not just reduced road accidents drastically from 7,772 in 2008 to 5,203 last fiscal but also improved compliance among commuters and reduced journey time.  What’s more, B-TRAC aims to reduce energy consumption by switching to eco-friendly solar power to run signals. The scheme is being promoted by the Bureau of Police Research and Development to be replicated in all cities across the state.
